INTRO: In my practice I see patients every single day who are struggling with something they rarely talk about — low libido, decreased sexual desire and intimacy issues that are quietly affecting their relationships and their confidence. For too long these concerns have been dismissed or undertreated. Today I want to talk about a remarkable peptide that is changing that conversation entirely.
PT-141. And it may be exactly what you have been looking for.

WHAT IS PT-141?
PT-141, also known as Bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide that works through a completely unique mechanism — one that sets it apart from every other sexual health treatment on the market today.
Unlike medications such as Viagra or Cialis which work by increasing blood flow to genital tissue PT-141 works directly on the central nervous system. Specifically it activates melanocortin receptors in the brain — the same receptors that regulate sexual arousal, desire and motivation.
In simple terms — PT-141 doesn't just address the physical mechanics of sexual function. It addresses the DESIRE itself. The want. The drive. The spark.
And that makes it effective for both men AND women — something virtually no other sexual health treatment can claim.
HOW PT-141 WORKS
PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors — specifically MC3R and MC4R — in the hypothalamus, the region of the brain responsible for regulating sexual behavior, appetite and motivation.
When these receptors are activated:
Sexual desire and arousal increase naturally
Physical response follows the mental desire
Emotional connection and intimacy are enhanced
Energy and motivation improve
Effects can last 6-72 hours depending on the individual
Because it works centrally — through the brain rather than just the body — PT-141 addresses the ROOT CAUSE of low libido rather than just the symptoms.
PT-141 FOR WOMEN
Low libido in women is incredibly common and incredibly undertreated. Studies suggest that up to 40% of women experience some form of sexual dysfunction at some point in their lives — yet the conversation around women's sexual health remains largely taboo.
PT-141 offers women something truly unique — a treatment that actually addresses desire, not just physical response.
Women report experiencing:
Increased sexual desire and arousal
Enhanced sensitivity and physical response
Improved ability to achieve orgasm
Greater emotional connection during intimacy
Renewed confidence in their sexual identity
PT-141 is particularly beneficial for women experiencing:
Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD)
Low libido related to hormonal changes — perimenopause, menopause
Sexual dysfunction related to antidepressant use
Low libido associated with stress, exhaustion or life changes
Decreased desire following childbirth or hormonal shifts
The connection to GLP-1: Many of our weight loss patients report improvements in body confidence as they progress on their GLP-1 journey. PT-141 can complement that journey beautifully — helping women feel as good emotionally and intimately as they are beginning to feel physically.
PT-141 FOR MEN
For men PT-141 offers a powerful alternative — or complement — to traditional erectile dysfunction medications.
While PDE5 inhibitors like Viagra work on blood flow PT-141 works on desire and arousal through the brain. This makes it particularly valuable for men whose ED or low libido has a psychological or neurological component — which is far more common than most people realize.
Men report experiencing:
Increased sexual desire and motivation
Improved erectile function through central arousal
Enhanced physical response and sensitivity
Greater confidence and reduced performance anxiety
Effects that feel more natural than traditional ED medications
PT-141 is particularly beneficial for men experiencing:
Low libido associated with low testosterone
ED with a psychological component
Reduced desire related to stress or fatigue
Dissatisfaction with traditional ED medications
Men wanting a more holistic approach to sexual health
The connection to testosterone and weight loss: As we discussed in a previous blog post excess body fat reduces testosterone levels — which directly impacts libido and sexual function. PT-141 combined with our GLP-1 weight loss program creates a powerful synergistic effect — addressing both the hormonal and neurological components of sexual health simultaneously. 🔥
HOW IS PT-141 ADMINISTERED?
PT-141 is available in two forms:
Subcutaneous injection:
Small injection administered under the skin
Typically 45 minutes to 2 hours before anticipated sexual activity
Fastest onset of action
Most commonly prescribed form
Nasal spray:
Non-invasive alternative
Slightly slower onset than injection
Preferred by patients who are needle averse
Important clinical notes:
Effects typically begin within 45 minutes to 2 hours
Duration varies — typically 6-12 hours but can last longer
Not intended for daily use
Requires a thorough medical evaluation before prescribing
May cause temporary facial flushing, nausea or mild increases in blood pressure in some patients
