IS TRT SAFE?
The short answer is — when properly prescribed, monitored and managed by a qualified healthcare provider, TRT can be safe and effective for men with clinically confirmed low testosterone.
The key words there are properly prescribed and monitored. TRT is not a one size fits all treatment and it is not appropriate for every man who feels tired or experiences low energy.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR TRT?
TRT may be appropriate for men who:
Have clinically confirmed low testosterone via blood testing
Are experiencing symptoms that meaningfully affect quality of life
Have been thoroughly evaluated by a qualified provider
Have no contraindications to treatment
Are committed to regular monitoring and follow up
TRT is generally NOT appropriate for men who:
Want to father children in the near future
Have certain cardiovascular conditions
Have prostate or breast cancer
Have untreated sleep apnea
Have normal testosterone levels
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL RISKS?
Like any medical treatment TRT carries potential risks that every patient should understand before starting:
Blood related:
